Volunteer
Volunteer with PINE Programs!
Are you interested in learning more about mentoring, nature connection, and developing your skills and experience? Do you want to get outside, have a blast, and learn some of the skills, philosophies and techniques that we use? We find the best way to learn is through experience! This is where the volunteer program at PINE is so important. It’s a free opportunity for those with some skills, interest, and a whole lot of passion to put their energy into the organization, and learn a ton about what we’re up to, and how we deliver such successful programs. We (and many of our staff) run courses on this material costing upwards of $100/day. Volunteering provides a chance to learn some of this material for free, especially with our camps. Staff and volunteers consistently report amazing experiences and continued learning that is unmatched!
“I feel like I just learned more about creating meaningful and enjoyable experiences for kids in one month with PINE camps than I did in all of Teacher’s College”
- Lindsay Theriault, PINE Summer Camp Staff
“Growing up on a farm outside Toronto, I always loved and appreciated the chorus of birds in nature, but I only ever appreciated it as just that. After this month working with the amazing staff team in the PINE Summer Day Camps, I know so much more about what these wonderful birds are saying. I can only imagine how many amazing adventures and sneaky animals I missed as a child, not knowing how to listen to the birds.“
- Amyann Faul, PINE Summer Camp Staff
“Camp was SO fun! It was the best week of my summer!
- Jenny Kellar, PINE Summer Camps Volunteer
Volunteering provides a chance to learn cool skills and techniques for mentoring others in nature, and get a little mentoring yourself if you’re interested. Positions are limited, and competition is high. See below for more info.
Application Procedure:
Interested applicants are asked to phone or email for a volunteer application and to book an interview. Contact our volunteer coordinator for more info. Email info(at)pineproject(dot)org with the subject titled: Volunteer positions. Thanks, and we can’t wait to work with you in future!
Please note that all volunteers working directly with children will require a Police Reference Check with vulnerable sectors check. PINE does not cover this cost.
Other volunteer opportunities
Everything that the P.I.N.E. Project does revolves around developing strong relationships between people and nature, so programming is the heart and sould of what we do. That said, for the organization to run properly, many other jobs need to get done! If you’d like to help out in other ways beyond program delivery, please let us know!
